资源简介:
The Central California Coastal Circulation Study (CCCCS) was an
18-month field program (February 1984 - July 1985) designed to study
the variability of water mass characteristics and velocity field on
the continental shelf and upper continental slope from Point
Conception to San Francisco. This study was funded by the
U.S. Department of Interior, Minerals Management Service (MMS) and
executed by Raytheon as part of an overall assessment of the impact of
development of oil and gas resources on the ecosystem of the
California Current System. The purpose of CCCCS was to collect a set
of measurements capable of resolving finer spatial scales and shorter
temporal scales than can be studied from the relatively coarse 65 km
grid spacing that has been used in the past. (taken from
D.B. Chelton, Oregon State University)
The following data acquired during experiment are available at the
Data Zoo (see below for more information and access instructions).
First, three sets of data are available directly from the subdirectory
labeled /CCCCS:
Moored current meter data
Hydrographic measurements (ctd)
Lagrangian surface drifters
These data are available elsewhere in the Data Zoo:
Sea-level observations (see /NOS)
Meterological data (see /NDBC)
Finally, infrared satellite images and XBT data taken as part of CCCCS
are not archived in the Data Zoo.
The Data Zoo
The Center for Coastal Studies (CCS) of the Scripps Institution of
Oceanography, University of California, San Diego, has developed an
on-line database of physical oceanographic data organized by
experiment, and referred to as the 'Data Zoo.' The animals in this
'zoo' are the individual data sets, one of which is described
above. The zoo is funded by the Mineral Management Service, Bureau of
Land Management, Department of the Interior.
If you intend to use these data in a published document, you are asked to cite
the source. If you plan to use these data in your research please notify CCS of
your intentions by contacting the 'zookeeper' at zookeeper@coast.ucsd.edu.
