Thermoanaerobacterium aotearoense SCUT27, a strain isolated from a hot spring in China, which can efficiently convert both pentose and hexose to ethanol at high yields. The molecular mechanisms underlying differences in sugar utilization of this spice has not been frequently reported, and hence, the availability of the T. aotearoense SCUT27genome sequence and genomic analyses should enable us to understand and effectively manipulate its carbon source utilization for efficient cellulosic biofuel production.
