Solubility Behaviors and Correlations of Common Organic Solvents

Through a statistical analysis of empirical solubility data collected from over 1000 solutes, the solubility behaviors of 53 common solvents are characterized in two different dimensions: classification by their dissolving power and grouping based on solubility correlations. Among these solvents, 45 are affirmatively placed into 11 solvent groups, whereas they exhibit high solubility correlations within each group. While the group representatives’ solubility values need to be measured, the other 34 solvents’ can be effectively extrapolated from the group representatives’ values on the same solute.
