"[de Vries' thesis] traces the history of the International Federation of Library Associations from the conception of the idea, in Prague in 1926 to its creation in Edinburgh in 1927 and through its early years up to World War II. As sources I have mainly used the proceedings of the annual meetings, published in the first eleven volumes of the 'Actes du Comité International des Bibliothèques'."
