Xylella fastidiosa is a bacterial plant pathogen recently emerged in the European countries infecting several plant species including relevant mediterranean crops. Three isolates were recently isolated in Tuscany (Italy) where the bacterium was detected from the first time in late 2018. The isolates cultured from Prunus dulcis (TOS4), Polygala myrtifolia (TOS5), Spartium junceum L. (TOS14) belong to X. fastidiosa subsp. multiplex. The taxonomic assignation to this subpecies was based on MLST scheme using 7 housekeeping genes (Yuan et al., 2010) and whole-genome sequencing using the Illumina NovaSeq technology.
