Atmospheric Potential Gradient Measurements (5-second resolution) and Camera Observations During the 31 July 2025 Dust-Front Event in Ica, Peru

This dataset contains atmospheric potential gradient (PG) measurements and ground-based camera observations associated with an extreme dust-front event that occurred on 31 July 2025 in Ica, Peru. PG measurements were recorded at the CST station of the Atmospheric Electric Field Network in South America (AFINSA) with a nominal sampling interval of 5 seconds. The dataset includes the complete PG time series for July 2025 expressed in local time (LT, UTC−5). PG values are calibrated and corrected to ground-equivalent electric field values and are expressed in volts per meter (V/m). Ground-based camera timelapse recordings from the CST and STG stations covering the full day of 31 July 2025 are also included. These recordings were used to determine the visual arrival time of the dust front during the event. The CST camera shows timestamps in UTC, whereas the STG camera shows timestamps in local time (UTC−5). All times reported in the associated study are expressed in local time (LT, UTC−5). PM₂.₅ and meteorological observations used in the study are maintained by the Research Center for the Study of Solar Activity and its Effects on Earth (CIEASEST), Universidad Nacional San Luis Gonzaga, and are therefore not redistributed in this repository.
