资源简介:

This thesis analyses the works of the Australian second-generation Holocaust survivor Lily Brett through the lens of literary studies. It proposes that Brett’s works exemplify elements of second-generation Holocaust survivor literature. Specifically, it reads Brett’s poetry and prose through six tropes of postmemory outlined in Marianne Hirsch’s The Generation of Postmemory: (1) The lost mother (2) The child witness (3) The postmemorial archive (4) Points of memory (5) Impossible witnessing (6) Reparative looking. The thesis argues the existing Brett scholarship takes place in four phases, of which a literary assessment of Brett’s works is the last.
