Data for: Sex-biased gene expression under sexually antagonistic and sex-limited selection
收藏资源简介:
Sex differences in gene expression are ubiquitous, evolve quickly, and are expected to underlie phenotypic sexual dimorphism. Yet, the shared genetic architecture can constrain independent evolution in the sexes, both at the gene expression and phenotypic levels. Despite long-standing interest, the impact of sex-specific selection on the transcriptome remains poorly understood. We tested fundamental questions on the role of constraints from the mode of selection and genetic architecture, and the relationship between sex-specific selection, sex-biased expression and sexual dimorphism (SD). We assessed these using body size selection lines in the seed beetle, Callosobruchus maculatus, that had evolved variation in SD in response to sex-limited (SL) or sexually antagonistic (SA) selection. This repository contains data and R notebooks detailing the data-processing and analysis steps taken for the study. Raw read data are also available from NCBI under the BioProject: PRJNA1178449
