INTEGRATING WEB-BASED RESOURCES FOR TEACHING SPEECH ACTS IN SELF-DIRECTED LEARNING CONTEXTS

This study explores the integration of web-based resources in teaching speech acts within self-directed learning contexts, with a particular focus on English as a Foreign Language (EFL) environments. The research addresses the growing need for autonomous learning strategies supported by digital technologies and examines how online platforms, interactive tools, and authentic digital materials can facilitate learners’ pragmatic competence. By drawing on contemporary approaches in communicative language teaching and digital pedagogy, the study analyzes the effectiveness of web-based resources such as learning management systems, video-sharing platforms, discussion forums, and AI-assisted applications in promoting learners’ understanding and production of speech acts. The findings suggest that when learners engage with authentic, context-rich input and are provided with opportunities for reflection and interaction, their ability to perform speech acts appropriately improves significantly. Moreover, self-directed learning environments supported by web-based tools foster learner autonomy, motivation, and critical thinking skills. The study concludes that integrating digital resources into speech act instruction not only enhances pragmatic awareness but also aligns with the evolving demands of modern language education.
