Malavedan Language Vitality Assessment: Survey Response Dataset

This deposit accompanies a language-vitality study of Malavedan, a severely endangered Dravidian language of a Scheduled Tribe community in Kerala. It contains the structured questionnaire instrument and the anonymised, coded responses of 34 fluent speakers across five forest-fringe settlements. Responses are organised around the nine UNESCO Language Vitality and Endangerment (LVE) factors (UNESCO 2003). The study is, to the authors' knowledge, the first systematic UNESCO-framework vitality assessment of Malavedan.
