Equivalents of "Barbarians", "Persians", and "Medes" in the Persian translation of Thucydides

This dataset presents a comprehensive list of the Persian equivalents for three key terms—"barbarians," "Persians," and "Medes"—as they appear throughout Thucydides’ History of the Peloponnesian War. The dataset was created by systematically extracting every occurrence of these terms in the original Greek text and identifying how (and whether) they were translated in the Persian translation by Mohammad Hassan Lotfi. Each entry in the dataset includes: - The term in the original Greek. Included lemmas are: βάρβαρος, βαρβαρικός, Μηδικός, Μηδισμός, Μῆδος, Πέρσης, ΠερσικόςΠερσίς. - The Persian equivalent, as translated by Lotfi - Book and section references from the Greek text for context - An English back-translation of the Persian rendering for comparative analysis The data on "Barbarians" also includes categorization of the Persian equivalents to highlight translation patterns.
