资源简介:
This study aimed to identify the techniques used in translating political news from English to Thai concerning the China-Taiwan conflict during 2023-2024. The analysis was based on Molina and Albir’s (2002) translation techniques. The study centred on 20 political news articles concerning the China-Taiwan conflict. It utilised a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative and qualitative methodologies. The quantitative analysis yielded numerical data on the frequency, percentage, maximum, and minimum values of each technique employed. Meanwhile, the qualitative analysis conducted content analysis within Molina and Albir’s theoretical framework. The findings revealed a total of 347 instances of translation techniques across the articles. Out of 18 possible techniques, 12 were observed: Amplification (19.31%), Literal Translation (17.87%), Reduction and Transposition (12.39% each), Adaptation (10.95%), Linguistic Amplification and Linguistic Compression (9.22% each), Discursive Creation and Modulation (2.31% each), Calque and Description (1.44% each), and Borrowing (1.15%).
