Northern Fur Seal foraging, 2005-2006, Trites

This data set contains Telemetry data for northern fur seals in the summers of 2005 and 2006. We tagged lactating females
with Drisen and Kern "Dead Reckoner" tags and Satellite PPT tags. The DeadReckoner tags recoreded Date, Time, Temperature, Depth
(Pressure 1), Speed (Pressure 2), Light, Pitch (Voltage 1), Roll (Voltage 2), Earths Magnetic Field in 3 Dimensions and an unused
"Hex" channel. The Satellite PPT tags recorded the approximate position of the animal using the ARGOS network. Three females were
tagged in 2005 and 13 in 2006. This data locations cover much of the South Eastern Bering sea surronding the Pribilof Islands out
to a radius of up to 400 km away from St. Paul Island. One of the deployments in 2005 and 8 of the Deployments in 2006 had Dead
Reckoner tag malfunction errors that were significant enough to render the data unuseable. These datasets were archived as part of the North Pacific Research Board legacy project recovery effort undertaken by Axiom Data Science and NPRB in 2025. The goal of the recovery effort was to assess the NPRB-funded data projects from 2002 to 2014 and archive final data packages that were ready for publication to increase long-term accessibility and discoverability. Data packages were archived as is given limited funding and resources.
