Qualitative Database: Mechanisms of Conflict Resolution and Enforcement Used by Shanghai Native Banks, 1917-1928

This datasets offers a qualitative description of methods used by the members of the Shanghai Native Bankers' Guild to resolve contractual conflicts between 1917 and 1928. A total of 99 commercial conflicts are characterised in this database according to their cause, the conflicting parties, and the solutions employed to resolve the conflict. Information on dates of the conflicts, sources, and short descriptions of each conflict are provided as well.
