Study is on the microbial diversity of soda pans found in Zimbabwe. Ngonidzashe Mangoma Soda Pan Metagenome Study

Zimbabwe is endowed with several soda pans. These are characterised by high pH, salinity and carbonate as well as bicarbonate ion content. The geochemistry of these sites make them a unique and extreme microbial habitat with the potential to host several novel microbes. This study is an attempt to uncover the microbial diversity of the soda pans through the use of the metagenomics approach as well as to evaluate their biotechnological potential.
