A traffic island is a solid or painted object in a road that channelizes traffic. It can also be a narrow strip of island between roads that intersect at an acute angle. If the island uses road markings only, without raised curbs or other physical obstructions, it is called a painted island. Traffic islands can be used to reduce the speed of cars driving through.道路导流岛（traffic island）是设置于道路上、用于渠化交通的实体设施或涂装标识，也可指锐角交叉路口间的狭长岛状区域。若该导流岛仅采用道路标线划定，未设置凸起路缘或其他物理障碍物，则称为涂装式导流岛（painted island）。道路导流岛可用于降低途经车辆的行驶速度。
