Phenotypic and pedigree data for early growth traits in Ecuadorian guinea pigs (Cavia porcellus)

Dataset supporting: Phenotypic and pedigree data for early growth traits in Ecuadorian guinea pigs (Cavia porcellus)This dataset contains the phenotypic and pedigree records used to estimate genetic parameters for early growth traits in Ecuadorian guinea pigs (Cavia porcellus) raised under Andean highland production systems. Body weights were recorded at birth (W0) and at 15, 30, 45, 60, 75, and 90 days of age (W15–W90), and average daily gain to 90 days (GR) was calculated. Additional recorded variables include sex, parity, litter size, sire and dam identification, allowing the construction of pedigree files for genetic analyses. The data support the estimation of additive genetic effects, maternal permanent environmental effects, heritabilities, and genetic correlations using mixed linear animal models.
