资源简介:
Ceratina calcarata (Hymenoptera: Apidae) is a subsocial bee species and important native pollinator in eastern North America (Rehan & Richards 2010a, b). C. calcarata is subsocial, and does not have morphological castes or reproductive division of labor. Unlike highly eusocial, caste-differentiated species, such as honeybees, Ceratina species display behavior thought to be necessary precursors to highly social behaviors, such as maternal care, nest loyalty, cohabitation, and adult longevity. In this study, we present the draft genome and methylome of the facultatively social small carpenter bee, C. calcarata. We will then compare the genome architecture to the previously published Hymenoptera and other social insects genomes to identify genomic regions under selection and help to provide the first evidence for the genetic basis at the onset of sociality.
