What is this?BMAT is the first global, longitudinal dataset mapping building facade materials to individual building footprints. It covers 22.09 million buildings across 73 major cities worldwide, with material labels spanning 2007-2025.Key Features:- 9 material categories: brick, concrete, glass, metal, stone, stucco, tile, wood, and other- Derived from 147 million multi-temporal street-view images (GSV: 36 cities, BSV: 37 cities)- Fine-tuned Vision-Language Model achieving F1-score of 0.91Applications:Building energy modeling, embodied carbon accounting, urban heat simulation, disaster vulnerability assessment, and urban renewal monitoring.Dataset Structure:Each city folder contains three files:- *_material.gpkg: Building footprint geometries with material attributes- *_BMAT.png: Visualization of the city's material distribution map- *_availability.png: Spatial coverage and data completeness mapAttributes in *_material.gpkg:- id: Building footprint ID- material: Current facade material (latest observation)- materials: Historical facade materials (temporal records)The following four attributes are sourced from Overture Maps:- subtype: A broad category of the building type and purpose- class: Further delineation of the building's built purpose- names: The name associated with the feature- sources: The array of source information for the properties of a given feature
