Bacterial strains displaying heteroresistance contain subpopulations that grow at higher antibiotic concentrations than the cells constituting the main population. Here, we have addressed heteroresistance in the human pathogen Campylobacter jejuni, and sequenced isolates from subpopulations found to form colonies at 4 to 16 µg/ml erythromycin containing plates. The sequences were compared in regard to single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and gene content (gene amplifications or loss).
