Antarctic soil microbial communities from the Antarctic peninsula. Antarctic peninsula 16S amplicon study

16S amplicon dataset of Antarctic Peninsula soils. Soils without plant cover were sampled from between Signy Island (60°S) in the South Orkney Islands and Alexander Island (72°S) in the southern maritime Antarctic in the 2007–2008 austral spring and summer. Universal bacterial 16S rRNA genes were amplified by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) using the primers 926F (5′-AAA CTY AAA KGA ATT GRC GG-3′) and 1392wR (5′-ACG GGC GGT GWG TRC-3′).
