资源简介:
Between September 1994 and January 1995, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Louis District's Mandatory Center of Expertise for the Curation and Management of Archaeological Collections (MCX-CMAC) performed research to address the status of the Savannah District's archaeological collections from projects conducted, on fee-title land at Hartwell, Russell, and J. Strom Thurmond lakes in Georgia and South Carolina.
The MCX-CMAC conducted a literature and site record review of all work conducted at the three lakes and compiled an annotated bibliography of all references, noting the presence or absence of collections, types of materials, NAGPRA-related materials, and the location of the archaeological materials and associated documentation. Reports and documentation were studied at the Savannah District office; the South Carolina Institute for Archaeology and Anthropology, Columbia; the University of Georgia, Athens, Laboratory of Archaeology; Brockington and Associates, Atlanta, Georgia; Carolina Archaeological Services, Columbia, South Carolina; New South Associates, Stone Mountain, Georgia; and at the cultural resources offices at the lakes.
In sum, 188 technical reports and 75 related files were identified and examined. Eight repositories were identified as curating archaeological collections from the lakes. NAGPRA-related materials from the lakes are presumably curated at the Laboratory of Archaeology, University of Georgia, Athens, and the Office of Archaeological Services, University of Alabama Museums, Moundville.
