A growing body of evidence implicates the gut microbiome as a critical factor in irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) pathophysiology, prompting the exploration of probiotics, such as Saccharomyces boulardii (S. boulardii), for IBS treatment. However, the effects of S. boulardii on the gut microbiota of IBS patients are still not fully understood. Therefore, fecal metagenomes were analyzed for IBS-D patients receiving S. boulardii treatment.
