Structure of polytene chromosomes of (A) wild-type, (B) DmSetdb110.1a homozygous mutant (DmSetdb110.1a/DmSetdb110.1a), and (C and D) overexpressing DmSETDB1421�C1,261 (UAS-DmSetdb1421�C1,261 daGal4 homozygotes) of third instar larvae are shown. Polytene chromosomes were stained with orcein. ��C�� points at the chromocenter and ��4�� at Chromosome 4. Overexpression of DmSETDB1421�C1,261 causes loosening of the chromocenter and constrictions on the arms. The polytene chromosomes of DmSetdb110.1a homozygous mutant do not present any abnormalities.
