Developing maintainable software for neutron texture analysis at ISIS

Neutron texture di raction provides insight into deformation mechanisms across a wide range of materials, including metals, alloys, and geological samples, enabling understanding of how materials respond to external forces and stresses. A joint software project between ISIS and SINQ@PSI is developing experiment-planning and data reduction tools within the MANTID framework to support spatially resolved texture analysis on ENGIN-X, IMAT and POLDI. We propose measurements of standard texture samples at IMAT using the new diffraction detectors, to further develop data collection and reduction workflows in preparation for the completion of IMAT and POLDI detector upgrades in 2026.
