资源简介:
The time from case filing to case closure is affected by multiple factors including the availability of evidence and witnesses, the need for additional investigation, and the caseloads of judges, prosecutors, and defense attorneys. Misdemeanor cases are by definition less serious than those involving a felony offense and thus tend to be resolved faster. Model standards proposed by the National Center for State Courts suggest that courts should be able to dispose of most misdemeanor cases within 180 days of filing.[1] There are many factors that could affect a county's results on this Measure. The data presented here are intended to show general patterns and to highlight areas that might need further investigation. Calculation:Number of 2009-2013 misdemeanor cases resolved within 180 days of case filing divided by total number of 2009-2013 misdemeanor cases resolved.[2] Exclusions:Felonies, cases declined for prosecution, open cases or cases with unknown disposition at the time of data extraction, and cases transferred to another jurisdiction.
