Effectiveness and safety of medication abortion by telemedicine and mail-order pharmacy provision: A prospective, observational, non-inferiority cohort study

As abortion provision in the U.S. has expanded to include availability of telehealth screening, mailing of mifepristone, and, in some instances, history-based eligibility assessment, there is an emerging need to document the safety, effectiveness and feasibility of these models of care. The present study, we are examining these outcomes prospectively in a cohort of people seeking abortion through models that incorporate telehealth screening, mailing of medications, and/or do not require ultrasound, as compared to in-person care with ultrasound.
