Alveolar macrophage-specific depletion system reveals the unique roles in respiratory infections

Nakayama et al. generate a mouse line where alveolar macrophages are specifically labelled by fluorescent protein and diphtheria toxin receptor. Using the system, they clarify the role of alveolar macrophages in various respiratory infections and GM-CSF inhalation therapy.
