Miscellanies.

A large collection of Persian compositions in prose and verse, containing:

1.An incomplete copy of Jâmî’s Lawâ’iḥ (see No. 1357, 15; No. 1358, 2; and Nos. 1368-1373 above), on ff. 1a-13b, defective at the beginning and injured moreover on fol. 1.

2.A story from Muḥammad’s life, on ff. 14a-16b, beginning: اسناد هفت كلام ربّانى چهارده حديث پيغمبر عليه السّلام اسرار تمام الخ.

Dated the 28th of Dhû-alḳa’dah, A.H. 1066 (A.D. 1656, Sept. 17).

3.Grammatical fragments, on ff. 17a-26a, for instance:

5.Short Persian commentary on Sûras 73 (سورة الْمزَّمِّل) and 74 (سورة المُدَّثِّر), on ff. 27a-35b.

6.A poetical Persian paraphrase of verses and phrases of the Ḳurân, on ff. 36b-52b, 81a-82b, and 89a-90b.

7.Niżâmî’s Makhzan-alasrâr (see No. 972 sq. above), on ff. 53a-75b.

8.Fragment of a Persian commentary on the initial ḳaṣîdah of Khâḳânî’s dîwan (see No. 950 sq. above), beginning: دل من پير تعليم است الخ , on ff. 75b and 76a.

9.Some other ḳaṣîdas of the same Khâḳânî, on ff. 76b-78b.

10.A short mystical mathnawî, entitled entitled: ترغيب القلوب (identical with the مرغوب القلوب in Nos. 1840 and 1841 below), on ff. 79a-80b, in ten faṣls, beginning:

بگويم حمد ربّ العالمين را

عطا كو كرد بر ما عقل و دين را

11.Extracts from Persian dîwâns, on ff. 88b-83b (the order of leaves is inverted).

12.A ghazal of Shaikh Auḥadî Kirmânî, correctly Auhad-aldîn Kirmânî (died A.H. 697=A.D. 1298) , the spiritual guide of Auḥadî Marâghî, who died A.H. 738 (A.D. 1337, 1338), on fol. 91a.

13.Mathnawî-fragments, on ff. 91b-124b; the larger portion is filled by the مظهر الآثار of Khwâjah Hâshim of Tattah, correctly Mîr Hâshimî of Kirmân, surnamed Shâh Jahângîr, who completed this Ṣûfic mathnawî in Tattah, A.H. 940 (A.D. 1533, 1534), and was slain during his pilgrimage, A.H. 948 (A.D. 1541, 1542), see further down in this Cat. Copied A.H. 1065 (A.D. 1655).

14.Shabistarî’s Gulshan-i-râz (see No. 1761, 2 above), on ff. 125a-136a (fol. 131a does not belong to it).

15.رقعه, a note, on fol. 136b.

16.Various ḳaṣîdas, a short mathnawî-fragment, and a ghazal, on ff. 137a-151b.

17.A mathnawî on the seven days of the week, styled : ساعت نامۀ روزهاء كريم, on ff. 152a-153b, beginning:

گر تو خواهى كه گرددت فيروز

كار و بار جهان بتو هر روز

18.Various poetical fragments, a معراج نامه (on the ascension of Muḥammad), in form of a ḳaṣîdah, by Muḥtasham, who died A.H. 996 (see Nos. 1447 and 1448 above), a وفات نامۀ حضرت , etc,. on ff. 154b-164b.

No. 1415, ff. 164; written by different hands, mostly in careless Nasta’lîḳ, with a great variety in the number of lines; size, 111/4 in. by 51/8 in.
