ETPP-31 Assessment of Global Risk Analysis for Novel Tree Species Phase 2 Report: Appendix 4 Resources: Invasion history resource

This data resource provides a genus-level summary of invasion history to support risk assessors addressing question 1.21 ('What is the total number and proportion of species in the genus known to be invasive?') of the research project ETPP-31 Assessment of Global Risk Analysis for Novel Tree Species, commissioned by the UK's Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra). For each genus on the novel tree species longlist, the number and proportion of species recorded as invasive were extracted from the Global Register of Introduced and Invasive Species (GRIIS; Kindt, R., 2023) and the Global Invasive Alien Tree and shrub Records database (GIATAR; Saffer, A et al., 2024), with species richness per genus retrieved from GBIF. The resource comprises two files: genus_summary.csv (the summary table) and genus_summary_column_explanations.csv (column descriptions). As neither database provides comprehensive global coverage, the figures should be treated as indicative.
