资源简介:
This dataset contains elicited verbal subject-marking paradigms following the verb 'to want' and three dialogues elicited using the Conversational Questionnaire method (François 2019, 'A proposal for conversational questionnaires') in Batta with Ema Sawoy (born 1970), a native speaker of Batta. The subject-marking paradigms were elicited for the verbs 'to come', 'to bathe', 'to take', 'to eat (intr.)'. The dialogues were designed specifically for this session: 'Eating banana hearts', 'Using a canoe', and 'Chewing betel nut'. The session was recorded on 10 March 2023, in Yenenas village (Batanta island, Raja Ampat regency, Southwest Papua province, Indonesia). The recording of this session is split across two audio files, BAT024-01 and BAT024-02. This dataset relates to the British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship 'Synchronic and diachronic investigations in Raja Ampat-South Halmahera, a little-known subbranch of Austronesian' (PF19\100004); additional fieldwork funds were provided by a British Academy Small Grant (SG1920\100342). Further deposits are available in the related DataShare sub-community (https://datashare.ed.ac.uk/handle/10283/8573).
