Dataset for the comparison of the two earliest thirteenth-century inventories of Toledo Cathedral (Order/Order model)

This dataset constitutes the supplementary research material for the forthcoming book chapter "Reordenar el saber: la reorganización de los libros del Tesoro de la Catedral de Toledo en el siglo XIII a través de los inventarios", accepted for publication in Usos y costumbres en las catedrales hispanas hasta 1600, edited by David Andrés Fernández, María José Lop Otín and Carmen Morte García (Madrid: Sílex). The volume is expected to be published in late 2025 or during the first quarter of 2026. The dataset contains the structured comparison between the two earliest surviving thirteenth-century inventories of Toledo Cathedral: the Liber Privilegiorum Toletanae Ecclesiae (c. 1255–1258) and the Inventory of the Treasury delivered to Sancho Martínez (1277). The spreadsheet was produced through the systematic transcription, normalization and comparison of the books recorded in both inventories. The identification of individual manuscripts and the establishment of correspondences between entries required consultation of Ramón Gonzálvez Ruiz's Hombres y libros de Toledo, which provided the essential reference framework for recognising and matching the books described in both documentary sources. On this basis, the dataset applies the Order/Order model developed by Cristina Jular and Julio Escalona to analyse the sequential reorganisation of the inventories. The dataset includes the sequential position of each book in both inventories, the established correspondences between records, the identification of newly incorporated books and the variables used to generate the comparative graphs presented in the associated publication. It is released to ensure transparency, reproducibility and reuse of the research data underlying the study.
