志书系统总结了1960年以来我国晚古生代孢粉研究的成果:最前面按国际流行的人为分类系统罗列出书中描述的所有属,第一章和第二章是孢子 - 花粉属征介绍、种的描述的归纳整理、比较讨论和时代分布,第三章至第五章是泥盆纪、石炭纪、二叠纪的孢粉组合序列及特征及各纪之间孢粉粉界线,并涉及一些理论问题如早志留世维管束植物的起源、裸子植物兴起、华夏区与冈瓦纳区及安加拉区的关系、二叠纪植物分区问题讨论、各纪主要陆相地层对比及古气候等的讨论。
晚古生代孢粉过去发表的文章很多,存在的分类命名问题也很多,但从未整理归纳过。这次进行的编研工作在我国是首次,全书记述晚古生代孢粉350属2000余种,系统分类中属以上新分类单元4个,新种约40个。专著的出版对推动晚古生代孢粉学的研究具有重要意义。
This monograph systematically summarizes the research achievements of Late Paleozoic sporopollen studies in China since 1960. At the beginning, all genera described in this book are listed according to the internationally prevailing artificial classification system. Chapters 1 and 2 present the introduction to generic characteristics of sporopollen, inductively organized species descriptions, comparative discussions and temporal distribution patterns. Chapters 3 to 5 focus on the sporopollen assemblage sequences and their characteristics of the Devonian, Carboniferous and Permian, as well as the sporopollen boundaries between these periods, and also involve discussions on multiple theoretical issues, including the origin of early Silurian vascular plants, the rise of gymnosperms, the relationships among the Cathaysian, Gondwanan and Angaran regions, the debate on Permian phytogeographic division, the correlation of major continental strata across different periods and paleoclimatology. Although there have been a large number of published papers on Late Paleozoic sporopollen with numerous unresolved taxonomic and nomenclatural issues, no systematic collation and summarization has ever been carried out before. This compilation and research work is the first of its kind in China. This monograph documents 350 genera and over 2000 species of Late Paleozoic sporopollen, including 4 new supraspecific taxonomic units and approximately 40 new species in its systematic classification. The publication of this monograph holds great significance for promoting the research of Late Paleozoic palynology.
