Brazil: number of femicides in selected states 2023

Among the eight Brazilian states surveyed, São Paulo registered the highest number of femicides in 2023. During that year, at least 174 women were murdered on account of their gender in the state of São Paulo. In Pernambuco, 92 femicides were recorded. The state of Rondônia had the highest femicide rate in Brazil in 2022.
