The dataset contains gaze data of 153 pilots that comprised of three test groups: 49 students (undergraduate), 50 experienced, and 54 expert pilots. The experimental design involved the collection of gaze data in relevant Areas of Interest (AOI), in response to changes in cognitive load during non-normal events in the “glass cockpit” flight simulator cockpit. Two Scenarios, Scenario 1 (S1) and Scenario 2 (S2) were designed, in which the anticipated event was administered to the control group (CG) and the unanticipated event to experimental group (EG) to create plausible startle/surprise event. Each pilot was randomly assigned to CG or EG in each Scenario. The data sets include gaze data such as dwell time, pupil diameter variations, fixations and search scan patterns (in the relevant AOIs) while responding to non-normal situations.
