资源简介:
Climate change will worsen the impacts of flooding and heatwaves in the future. Smart stormwater systems provide improved 'smart design' and 'smart control' of stormwater infrastructure to reduce flooding impacts and provide more water for urban greening. This research project develops and evaluates smart stormwater storage solutions. The project utilizes machine learning to optimize the design and control of distributed stormwater storage systems, aiming to mitigate flooding and increase urban greening. Case studies in Adelaide, Australia demonstrate the effectiveness of these strategies in reducing flood infrastructure costs and improving water reuse. A physical laboratory prototype further validates the technology's potential to adapt to future climate change impacts. The project highlights a successful transition from research to practical implementation, facilitated by industry collaboration. This presentation summarizes a range of industry case studies that show how smart stormwater systemsReduce costsSave spaceIncrease FeasibilityAdapt to Climate ChangeIncrease water re-use for urban greeningThis presentation represents a summary of a project that received funding fromGovernment of South Australia: Stormwater Management Authority,City of Mitcham,City of Norwood, Payneham and St PetersEnvironment Institute, University of AdelaideThe authors are very thankful and grateful for this funding support.
