Anti-peptide antibodies detect steps in a protein conformational change: low-pH activation of the influenza virus hemagglutinin.

Since the amino acid sequences were not available in the curated manuscript, the sequence presented in this record was obtained in a paper by Green et al, 1982. We have used the amino acid positions presented by authors to determine the putative amino acid sequence. Since the X-47 reassortant used in this study is not listed on NCBI taxonomy, the source provided is for the parental strain VIctoria/3/75. The reactivity of anti-peptide antisera directed against sequences that lie partially or completely in the BHA trimer interface were markedly enhanced after a brief treatment of BHA at low pH.
