Acinetobacter baumannii and E. coli sequencing

A ceftazidime-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii was isolated from a hospital wastewater effluent in Singapore. The isolate then acted as donor and was subjected to filter mating experiment with E. coli SCC1 strain as recipient. The recipient, donor and transconjugate was then sequenced and both donor and transconjugate was found to harbour blaNDM-1 and aph(3')-VI gene, of which bla¬NDM-1 was responsible for the resistance against ceftazidime.
