Comparative transcriptomic analysis of different Sox9+/Scx+ progenitor populations identified genes potentially involved in patterning of bone superstructures. Moreover, this analysis shows that the genetic program includes both proximal and distal regulatory modules. Overall design: Comparative transcriptomic analysis of proximal and distal Sox9+/Scx+ progenitor populations was performed. Sox9+/Scx+ progenitor populations were isolated by FACS sorting genetically co-labeled Sox9-CreERT2;Rosa26-tdTomato+;ScxGFP+ cells from E13.5 dissected forelimbs.
