Sales volume of passenger cars India FY 2016-2021, by body type

In financial year 2021, the majority of cars sold in India were hatchbacks, around 1.2 million units, with a 43.23 percent of market share. There was a continuous decrease of its market share during the surveyed period. Meanwhile, UV car sales saw a stark increase from about 320 thousand units to just under 910 thousand units during the same period.
