Open Music Europe Live Music Census Post-Snapshot Venue Survey

The OpenMusE post-Snapshot venue survey's purpose was to gather data on the operational and financial structures of all live music venues as well as to collect details of live music events that took place on the OpenMusE Live Music Census Snapshot date of 11th October 2024 from the venues hosting events on the date in question. The survey collected the following, confidential and anonymised information on the responding venues: venue name, address, contact details, legal status, and legal entity name; Staff composition (regular employees, freelancers, volunteers), working hours, and gender identification; Total annual revenue and percentage of revenue by category (ticket sales; food and drink sales; external rentals; public subsidies; private subsidies; other); and Total annual expenditure and percentage of expenditure by category (tax; rental/mortgage; programme costs; employment costs; infrastructure and utility costs; accommodation costs; other). Additionally, the survey collected following details on venues' hosting events on the Snapshot date of 11th October 2024: estimated audience attendance, number of events on the date, cost of entry and genre of event. The overall aim of the survey was to better understand the current landscape of live music venues, including their staffing, revenue streams, and expenditures, to inform industry stakeholders and policymakers. The post-Snapshot venue survey received a total of 56 responses across the Census cities, with 12 responses from Helsinki, 19 replies from Lviv, 14 from Vilnius, 8 from Mannheim and 3 from Heidelberg.
