PROV Records Issued & Visitor Statistics 2014 - 2015

Public Record Office Victoria operates two public\r\nreading rooms; one at the Victorian Archives Centre\r\nin North Melbourne and the other at the Ballarat\r\nArchives Centre in Ballarat. Records can also be\r\naccessed at the Bendigo Regional Archives Centre\r\nand Geelong Heritage Centre Reading Rooms, both\r\nof which are Places of Deposit.\r\nDuring 2014–2015, 15,542 visitors utilised the\r\nReading Rooms to view records. 48,949 records\r\nwere issued to visitors and another 11,942 were\r\nissued to Government Agencies and for internal\r\nPublic Record Office Victoria use.\r\nOur Reading Room staff delivered a number of\r\ninformation sessions to the public on how to\r\nuse the Public Record Office Victoria collection\r\nand sessions focusing on specific areas of the\r\ncollection.\r\nIn 2014–2015 our online enquiry system was\r\nlaunched to manage incoming reference queries.\r\nOver a twelve-month period, the system dealt\r\nwith on average 759 queries per month; providing\r\na more consistent and seamless approach to\r\ncustomer service.
