Share of individuals who smoked during pregnancy in Finland 2010-2020

In 2020, 9.2 percent of women smoked during pregnancy in Finland. The share of pregnant individuals smoking has steadily decreased since 2012, when 16.6 percent of those who gave birth had smoked during the pregnancy.Legislative actions, health promotion and national monitoring measures are taken to reduce the health risks caused by smoking. For instance, the sale of tobacco for individuals under 18 years of age is prohibited in Finland and cigarette advertising is not allowed.
