Strain Micrococcus sp. F3Y, capable of completely degrading 80 mg/L of oxyfluorfen in a mineral medium supplemented with 2.5 mM fructose within 72 hours, was isolated. The transformation process involves a series of reactions, including nitro reduction, N-acetylation, diaryl ether cleavage, hydroxyl oxidation, oxidation and aromatic ring cleavage. Within these reactions, the initial step might be either nitroreduction, which mitigates the toxicity to cells, or diaryl ether bond cleavage, which provides the necessary intermediate products for cell growth. Subsequently, a multi-pathway synergistic degradation network consisting of two major and four branch pathways was proposed. The potential of strain F3Y in soil remediation was explored, followed by an analysis of soil microbial diversity. The findings indicated that strain F3Y could remove 80.24% of 50 mg/kg oxyfluorfen in soil within 15 days. In summary, this study offers valuable strain resources for the bioremediation of oxyfluorfen-contaminated soils.
