Exploration of Environmental Virome and Functional metagenomics

Viral metagenomics provides insights of virus-host interactions and helps uncovering genes that allows viruses to manipulate their hosts. However, limited studies regarding metaviromic profiling of different biomes were accomplished in India despite having in-numerous implications. The presence of viruses in aquatic and soil biome possesses enormous influence on global biogeochemical cycles, genetic exchange, and microbial diversity. Moreover, metagenomic profiling of viral community of particular area elucidate the functional potential of that biome. Virome are the repositories for storing and sharing genes between their microbial hosts. Therefore, we would be exploring environmental viromes to decipher the magnitude of global evolutionary and metabolic capabilities.
