AutoBio is a simulation framework and benchmark suite for evaluating robotic automation in biological laboratory environments. It extends existing simulation capabilities by digitizing real-world laboratory instruments, offering specialized physics plugins for mechanisms pervasive in laboratory workflows, and incorporating a rendering stack that supports dynamic instrument interfaces and transparent materials. The benchmark suite of AutoBio includes three difficulty levels of foundational biology tasks, enabling standardized evaluation of language-guided robotic manipulation within experimental protocols. We provide infrastructure for demonstration generation and seamless integration with VLA models. Baseline evaluations using two state-of-the-art VLA models reveal significant gaps in precise manipulation, visual reasoning, and instruction following within scientific workflows. By releasing AutoBio, we aim to advance research on general robotic systems tailored for complex, high-precision, and multimodal professional environments.
