VPRS 18347 Plot Purchase Register

This series comprises of a of plot purchase register created by Woodend Cemetery (VA 5210). The register records the names of individuals who purchased plot locations within the cemetery. It also records the names of the deceased buried in the purchased plots. This register was used to ensure specific plots that were purchased were reserved and used for the future interments specified by the plot purchaser.The register contains the name of the purchaser, the location of the plot (section, row and grave number), the interment date, age and name of the deceased and usually, but not always, the deceased's relationship to the purchaser if the purchaser and deceased were not one of the same.Researchers should note there are instances where a plot was purchased but no name is listed as being buried in the plot.A separate list of burials for paupers appears towards the end of the volume. Researchers should note the names recorded in this section do not always appear in the alphabetical index.
