Results of individual particle analysis of ice nucleation particle (INP), primary biological aerosol (PBA), and aerosol observed during R/V Mirai cruise 2022 (MR22-06C). Aerosol particles were collected on the TEM Cu grids (200 mesh) with a Formvar film and Lacey nets (U1007 and U1001, EM Japan) using a three-stage impactor (MPS-3, California Measurements) at the compass deck. The flow rate was 2 LPM, and sampling durations were between 10 and 20 minutes depending on the aerosol concentrations. The collected size ranges were >2 micro-m, 0.3-2 micro-m, and 0.05-0.3 micro-m, respectively. Individual INP was investigated using TEM grid samples by an optical microscope (Axio imager M2m, Zeiss) coupled with a cool stage (10002L, LINKAM) at Meteorological Research Institute (MRI). Then, individual aerosol (including INP and PBA) particle features were analyzed by SEMs (Quanta 450 FEG, FEI and SU-3500, Hitachi High Technologies) and a TEM (TECNAI G2 20, FEI) with EDSs (Octane Elite 30, EDAX, E-max 50 mm, Horiba, and EDAX EDS, EDAX) at MRI and JAMSTEC.
