资源简介:
This single screen video (15 minutes, colour, sound) is a new contribution to a body of research into experimenting with modes of archiving and documentation of ephemeral artworks, particularly performances and video installation. This research has been previously articulated as a boxed archive-as-artwork (The Prediction Pieces - now in the collection of the Museum of Contemporary art) as 2 on-line archives (the At Home series and my 10 year series From the Darwin Translations for my PhD in 2005) and through a series of 're-makes' in different media of earlier works. With this video document of a work from 1984(only now possible with digital editing) the research examined ways to combine documentary slides and slides used in the actual performances with recordings of voices used directly in the performance and a new vocal recording. This video was commissioned in 2012 by the MCA to be shown with and added to, my archive for Prediction Piece 7 for their inaugural exhibition on the re-opening of the MCA. The exhibition was supported with a catalogue by curator Glenn Barkley and the work was on view for 3 months and seen by many thousands of visitors to the gallery. It was then also shown in 'Mix Tape 1980s: Appropriation, Subculture, Critical Style', curated by Max Delany for National Gallery of Victoria in 2013. The original performance, 'Prediction Piece 7' that this video documents is an examination of the gendered media voice. It has been regarded as a classic feminist work and was commissioned to represent Australia at the Los Angeles Olympic Games and selected for the Edinburgh festival in 1984.
