Microbiome of a biofilm process for nitrogen and phosphorous removal from municipal wastewater

Continuous biofilm reactors were operated for more than a year for nitrogen and phosphorous removal using biobased support material. The reactors were fed with municipal wastewater after primary filtration and supplemented with volatile fatty acids as additional carbon source.
